Something you might not know about me...

I didn’t learn to ski until later in life, but it turned out to be the first sport in which I truly excelled. I had the best teacher imaginable—my mother-in-law, who was a ski instructor at Holiday Valley. Her expert guidance not only helped me master skiing, but also sparked a lifelong passion for the sport.

My favorite vacation I have ever been on....

My favorite vacation was an unforgettable journey across Europe with our extended Deyo family. This trip held special meaning because my husband’s family—French Huguenots—was one of the seven families that settled in and named New Paltz, NY.

We retraced a centuries-long journey that began in Amsterdam and continued through the Netherlands, where we marveled at the Van Gogh Museum and visited the Anne Frank House. Our adventure then led us along the scenic Rhine River in Germany, stopping in cities like Bonn and Mannheim. In France, we explored historic places including Lyon and Strasbourg, and in Belgium we reflected on history at Flanders Fields.

Our journey concluded at Château Dejoux (the true pronunciation of “Deyo”), a majestic château fortified through numerous wars, with World War II being the most recent. This vacation was more than just a travel experience—it was a profound connection to the Deyo family’s enduring legacy.

Which season is your favorite and why?

Winter is my favorite season because it brings endless opportunities for enjoying my favorite sports—skiing, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.
