Barrett Evan

Financial Planner

Which season is your favorite and why?

My favorite season is FOOTBALL season. A warm Friday night with the sounds of a high school marching band and the thud of shoulder pads. A crisp Saturday morning with a cup of coffee and the College Gameday theme song comes on. A Sunday evening with burgers on the grill and Sunday Night Football comes on NBC.

The best piece of advice I have ever been given is...

Every time I used to leave the house when I was younger my grandfather, Litt Barrett, used to tell me “Be good and if you can’t be good at least be really good at it.”

What 3 items would you bring with you on a deserted island?

My wife and kids are the obvious answer, but if we take them out of the equation – A coffee pot that never runs out, the audio of Craig Way’s call of the Vince Young touchdown in the Rose Bowl, and the complete box set of all 5 seasons of the original Saved by the Bell television series.

What did you want to be when you were younger?

From 5-10 years old I wanted to be Troy Aikman, from 12-13 years old I wanted to be a member of a world-renowned Boy Band, and from 17- 20 years old I wanted to be a US Senator.

Barrett Evan joined Cedarwood Financial Partners in 2023 after spending 14 years in public education. Barrett enjoyed teaching and coaching stints in the great Central Texas school districts of Rogers, Temple, and Troy where he wore many hats from head basketball coach to AP Government/Eco teacher to FCA leader and everything in between.

Barrett holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Communications from The University of Texas in Austin where he graduated in 2009.

Barrett and his wife Emily are raising up three wonderful children: Emersyn, Mason, and Sloane. The Evans currently reside in Troy where they are still avid supporters of Troy ISD schools and athletics. Barrett is a member of Vista Community Church where he helps lead his small group and served on the Vista Youth Parent Council. When they aren’t busy tackling the calendars of the three kids, the Evans are most likely watching some type of sporting event, creating some combination of shopping/eating, or supporting the Longhorns in Austin!

Barrett took the leap of a career change and joined Cedarwood because he believed in the vision and culture that this firm is building, making financial planning more than just an in and out business transaction.
